Sales and service of nitrogen generators, for all flow rates and purity of nitrogen

Nitrogen Generators

Nitrogen generators continuously produce high purity nitrogen from compressed air and the installation is simple: pipe in compressed air and pipe out nitrogen. Just connect a compressed air line to the inlet of the nitrogen generator package, connect the outlet to your nitrogen line and the unit is ready for trouble free operation. A continuous supply of consistent purity is then available minutes after start-up, and it can expand in line with your business needs – a complete future proof solution!

Multi Pneumatics Ltd delivers bespoke, market-leading, high flow & high purity nitrogen generators as solutions for numerous applications within industry sectors, such as Food & Beverage, Pharmaceutical & Biotechnology, Chemicals, Electronics, Metals, Plastics, Rubbers and many more.
On Site gas generation is an easy and reliable way that can save you money and give you more control over your gas use. Companies who produce their own supply of on-site nitrogen can generate as much or as little N2 as they need, at a fraction of the cost of having the gas delivered by an external source.
Multi Pneumatic's Industrial N2 gas generation systems provide a cost-effective, reliable and secure supply of nitrogen. The nitrogen generator’s working principle is based on Pressure Swing Adsorption(PSA) technology, which entails carbon molecular sieves that selectively separate oxygen from nitrogen.

BENEFITS OF ONSITE NITROGEN GAS GENERATION

Supply on demand

Nitrogen generators are designed to operate to meet your demand, up to 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. Having a constant and reliable supply of nitrogen removes the inconvenience of running out of stored nitrogen or waiting for deliveries during adverse weather conditions. And by matching the demand, it reduces potential downtime of equipment.

Low operating costs

The cost of generating your own nitrogen is typically 20%-30% less when compared to bottled nitrogen or bulk liquid nitrogen storage. Generating your own nitrogen also eliminates ongoing costs for having gas delivered as well as in house re-ordering processes.

Environmental responsibility

Using a nitrogen blanket during beverage storage, pre and post bottling, prevents the growth of bacteria and other microbes. Another use is purging air from pipes and hoses prior to bottling and to ensure oxygen is not introduced during transport. It can also help to preserve taste and freshness.

Uses of Nitrogen Generators

Food Packaging

Picture
Residual oxygen within a package promotes bacterial growth and oxidation, which can compromise quality and shelf life. Using nitrogen minimises the levels of oxygen present, therefore preserving quality and improving shelf lie. This is particularly relevant to coffee processing, meat packaging, dried foods processing and lettuce packaging.

Beverage applications

Chemical processing

Picture
Blanketing with an inert gas, such as nitrogen, is often used to ensure the chemical integrity and maximise safety. Nitrogen tank blanketing controls the oxygen concentration and humidity within the vessel, protecting the product from contamination, degradation, and chemical change. The reduced oxygen level minimises the chance of explosion.

Electronics

Picture
Using nitrogen to inert the atmosphere during soldering processes has become a generally accepted practice in the electronic assembly industry. Regardless of whether the soldering process is wave, selective or reflow, nitrogen improves the process by enhancing the joint quality and minimising defects.

Laser Cutting

Picture
In laser cutting the laser beam melts the material and high-pressure nitrogen forces the metal quickly to harden. As nitrogen has a shielding effect, the cutting area is protected against 'bluing' and oxidation.

Pharmaceuticals

Most pharmaceutical companies have multiple nitrogen uses and purity demands. The purity requirement varies from 99.5% to 99.9995%. Most pharmaceutical applications are blanketing, inerting and sparging.

How Nitrogen Generators work

When a nitrogen generator produces nitrogen gas, the generator does not create nitrogen by itself. Rather, nitrogen gas present in air (roughly 78% of air is nitrogen) is purified inside the generator, as any additional molecules, such as, oxygen, carbon dioxide or water, are removed from the gas.
Nitrogen compressor technology enables this separation process by providing air to a nitrogen generator system to purify either through a membrane and other filters or through a Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) system and filters.
One nitrogen compressor-based system is PSA technology. A PSA nitrogen generation uses an air compressor to supply nitrogen gas from atmospheric air. A PSA nitrogen generator then passes nitrogen gas through a column filled with Carbon Molecular Sieve (CMS). Oxygen and other trace gasses get adsorbed by the CMS, allowing nitrogen to pass through.
For a PSA nitrogen generator, two CMS columns are required, where one column is depressurised whilst the other column sends the air through the sieve at pressure. PSA nitrogen generators also include a multistage prefiltration processes to remove dust particles and moisture from air before it reaches the CMS.
Another nitrogen compressor-based system is membrane nitrogen generator, where air is compressed and passed through a membrane consisting of hollow fibres with pores small enough to prevent nitrogen from being pushed through along with oxygen. High purity nitrogen gas is then left behind

“We are set to recoup the capital cost within 18-24 months.  So effectively we’ll be producing free nitrogen on-tap, without the risk of production downtime.”Our partner, Oxywise and Nano nitrogen generation systems continuously produce high purity nitrogen from compressed air and eliminate the inconvenience of a delivered nitrogen supply.  Installation is simple: pipe in compressed air and pipe out nitrogen.  Just connect a standard compressed air line to the inlet of the generator, connect the outlet to your nitrogen line and the unit is ready for trouble free operation.

The system is designed to operate 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.

These generators are free standing, housed in a cabinet or skid mounted, depending on the application.  Standard features include high efficiency coalescing prefilters with automatic drains, activated carbon adsorption (when required), nitrogen storage tank and a 0.01 micron final membrane filter.  There is also a range of oxygen monitors to measure the oxygen concentration of the nitrogen stream to meet your application requirements.

An investment that pays off

A nitrogen generation system can reduce costs by up to 90% when compared to traditional methods of supply. If a company using liquid nitrogen was to convert to gas generation technology, the new system could be expected to pay for itself in typically less than two years. For a company using cylinders, the payback period could be even earlier - less than twelve months in many cases.

Advantages

• Enhanced safety without the need to store or handle high pressure cylinders
• Reduced downtime due to an on-demand supply
• Cost savings following payback of up to 90%
• High purity nitrogen at consistent flow and pressure
• Compact space saving design
• Flexible modular design
• Low cost of ownership
• Proven high reliability
